Darryl is the pastor of Simpson-Gillespie and a native of the Queen City. He earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University and a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. Darryl is ordained in the United Methodist Church. He is passionate about connecting the church and community through developing relationships and discovering how God is already at work in the neighborhood. His hope is that the church will continue to strive to be the body of Christ that is reflective of the diverse and intersecting beauty God has created. One that we will continue to stand in solidarity with and advocate for those who have been relegated to the margins.
Darryl is married to a United Methodist minister, Jessica, and together they have 3 young children. He enjoys being outdoors, climbing, hiking, photography, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, chasing around and playing with children, and spending time with his wife.
